Cara is our ultra-hero
Cara is running 100 kilometres in Mongolia and is raising funds for Twenty10 in doing so!
She is running an ultra-marathon called the Mongolia Sunrise to Sunset (click for more information) and is using Everyday Hero to raise funds sponsoring her efforts.
In Cara's own words:
"If there is one thing I believe in, it is that we all have the right to be who we really are... free of criticism, censorship, pressure or obligation. But life can sometimes be tricky for young people who are gender diverse, same-sex attracted, bisexual, gay, lesbian, queer or transgender.
This hetero-normative society of ours likes to tell these young people that they are hurting themselves and others by being who they are. These young people are then allocated a label and packaged up into a neat little box.
But a lot of us are shaped like oblongs or triangles or circles and we obviously don't fit into matchboxes.
And that is why Twenty 10 is such a fantastic organisation. Because it tells young people that they are perfect just the way they are."
Support Cara by making a donation on her Everyday Hero page. You can also join her Facebook group.
STOP PRESS! Cara has triumphed in this quest to run 100kms. Inspired by her dedication, one of Cara's supporters has pleged to match any donation made between today (28th July) and the 31st July up to the total limit of $1000! Donate now!

Sun Herald City2Surf

You are now able to register to run in the City2Surf race. For the third year, Everyday Hero will be providing you with the opportunity to raise funds for Twenty10 by running. The race will be run on Sunday August 9th.
You still have plenty of time to get training! But remember, when you register for the City2Surf choose to fundraise for Twenty10 by creating a Hero Page at the end of your registration.
Fundraise with the Twenty10 Team
Ben, a Twenty10 volunteer, has raised a big amount of money by getting sponsored in the last two City2Surf runs. This year he has set up a Twenty10 Team and is inviting others to join him in the effort to reach a $6,000 target. These funds will support Twenty10 respond to the growing needs of young people resulting from the economic climate.
To join the Twenty10 Team you just need to follow these directions:
- Visit our team page at http://city2surf.everydayhero.com.au/twenty10team
- Click "join this team", beneath the "donate" button.
- Complete the registration form with your personal details
- Our team password is: Q!w2e3 (that's an exclamation mark after the Q)
- You're on the team! Send out the tram website details to friends asking for them to sponsor you. Ben will be updating us with some tips on fundraising.
Watch the video of Ben's run last year...
That could be you feeling the sense of achievement at the end of the run!
Fundraise at your next party or event
Do you have a party coming up where you would like to raise funds to donate to Twenty10? Or are you doing something special where you would like to have people sponsor you? Twenty10 is part of a great website where you can set up your own "Hero" page and invite your friends to come and sponsor you.
The site is called Everyday Hero - www.everydayhero.com.au - and is really easy to use. You set up your own page, with your own photo and text. Then you can choose Twenty10 as your charity and set what your fundraising target is. The site then helps you write an e-mail to all your friends inviting them to make a contribution. The website processes the payments securely and issues tax deductible receipts.
