Welcome to Twenty10 and Friends, a self care edit to you from our staff, volunteers, and pals around NSW! This is a chance for us to let you know about nice things we’ve been watching, reading, listening to, eating, and doing while we’re all in lockdown.

Today is our first instalment with Drop In worker Ben. Thanks Ben for sharing some of your favourites with us!

Film: Hunt for the Wilderpeople, on SBS On Demand

This is a super funny, feel good film from one of my favourite directors! If you’re after a really touching, but ultimately hilarious bit of Kiwi charm – Hunt for the Wilderpeople is for you.

Book: The Name of Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss

I just finished reading this and loved it! It’s been years since I’ve read any fantasy and this came highly recommended from many friends. I wasn’t disappointed.

TV: Spicks And Specks Specials, on ABC iview

I haven’t actually watched the most recent specials, but just saw them online. I loved the original series’ mix of positivity and pop culture, and can’t wait to watch these!

Podcast: Embodied Astrology podcast

I’ve become more interested in astrology over the last couple of years, but never really resonated with the huge number of podcasts on the subject. This one is different! Each month, the host Renee Sills takes each of the star signs through their month ahead, giving insightful suggestions on ways to approach both opportunities and challenges.

Exercise: Grumble Boogie, 10am every day, on Instagram Live with @bettygrumble

Betty Grumble is such an icon here in Sydney, full of positivity and joy – her Grumble Boogie disco aerobics sessions are one of my favourite ways to get the body moving during isolation, and the best way to start the day with a laugh!

Cook: The Mushroom Tarte Tartin, from Arthur Street Kitchen

I made this with some folks in Drop In a couple of months ago and we all loved it! Its deceptively easy and you can play around with different types of herbs and mushrooms, etc. And lots of butter and garlic, of course. Super simple – super good!
